Track and Field’s Davis breaks 58-year-old program record, sets world lead at Mt. SAC Relays

(Walnut, CA)  Jayden. Davis. The junior from Mountain Pointe High School in Gilbert, Arizona rewrote Sun Devil Track and Field history Saturday afternoon at Hilmer Lodge Stadium, breaking a 58-year-old program record in the 400 meter dash.  Davis ran a world-leading 44.29 to surpass Ron Freeman II’s previous mark of 44.49, which had stood since 1968.

Davis now owns the men’s 400m dash program records in both indoor and outdoor season, having previously set the indoor record with a time of 45.06 in 2025.

Davis’ mark of 44.29 ranks No. 1 worldwide among athletes across all levels of competition and stands as the runaway leading time in the NCAA this season.

On the women’s side, Missouri graduate transfer Claudina Diaz continued to impress, taking first in the women’s high jump with a clearance of 1.81 meters ( 5′ 11¼”) , the sixth-best mark in program history.

Diaz was joined by Taiwo Kudoro, who also etched her name into the record book with the 10th-best performance in program history in the women’s 400m, clocking in at 52.44.

Mia Chavez added a runner-up finish in the 800 meters (2:09.09), while the 4x100m relay team of Ashantai Bollers, Alexia Schofield, Kate Odumoso and Naiya Morgan placed second with a time of 44.78.

The Sun Devils will return to action at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia from April 23-25 as outdoor season rolls on.
