Bucs Finish Third in Brutal Conditions at Ottawa University -AZ Laughlin Invite

(Laughlin, NV) The Park University Gilbert golf team shot the third best round of the day in brutal conditions to finish third in the OUAZ Laughlin  Invitational. The Bucs shot a final round 325 which was 24 shots worse than Monday’s round, but was still the third best team score on an afternoon which humbled most of the golfers on the course.

The Buccaneers finished five shots behind winner Linfield University who shot a final round 327.

Individually, Park had two golfers in the top-five as both Riley Wortman and Cole Taylor finished in a tie for third at +9 (153). Wortman tied for the best round of the day with a 78 (+6) and was one of only five golfers to shoot better than 80 in both rounds.

 Conditions were brutal on all of the golfers on this afternoon. Of the 59 golfers in the tournament, only seven (7) shot under 80 on the day. Eight golfers shot 90 or worse. In round one, over half the field shot under 80.

UP NEXT

The Buccaneers travel to Texas for the Top of Texas Tournament on March 9-10, hosted by #17 Wayland Baptist. Last year, the Buccaneers finished second in the tournament finishing better than a couple of ranked teams including Wayland Baptist who was ranked eighth in the country at the time and finished last season ranked sixth.
