(Tempe, AZ) Sun Devil Lacrosse (1-2) won its first contest of the season behind six scorers with multiple goals en route to its 23-9 win over Lindenwood (0-4). Senior attacker, and USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American, Jordyn Behar‘s season-high eight points (3G-5A) led the offensive charge on Saturday at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium.
After responding to Lindenwood’s opening goal two minutes into the game, the Sun Devils fired off eight of the next 10 goals and did not look back. Following Behar’s lead, a trio of goal scorers led the way for the offense, as attackers Lydia Oldknow, Teagan Ng, and Addie Shevitzall netted hat tricks in the win.
All three goalies saw time in the net for Arizona State, and combined for 10 saves. On the draw, ASU outdrew Lindenwood, with a season-high 18 draw controls to their 15.
How it happened
Lindenwood opened the scoring with a goal within the first two minutes, but Arizona State quickly responded with goals from Teagan Ng and Lydia Oldknow, giving the ASU a 2-1 lead. The Lions scored to tie the game, only for the Sun Devils to net two more goals to give them 4-2 lead. A Lindenwood goal with three seconds left cut ASU’s lead in half to end the first frame, 4-3.
To start the second quarter, the Sun Devils netted three unanswered goals from Kendal Morris, Jordyn Behar and Alyssa Nichols to extend their lead, 7-3. A man up goal from Ng furthered ASU’s lead, 8-3, before back-to-back goals from Lindenwood made it 8-5, causing Gabi Henryto come in as relief. Goals from Oldknow and Behar gave the Sun Devils a 10-5 lead with five minutes left in the first half. A free position goal from the Lions made it a 10-6 game, but the Sun Devils answered with two goals from Oldknow and Behar, respectively, to end the quarter 12-6.
Despite a goalie change from the Lions, the Sun Devils netted two goals, one from Nichols and another from Teagan Lowery, her first collegiate goal. Lindenwood responded with a goal of their own, but a goal from Addie Shevitz and two from Ng made it 17-7. Lowery found the back of the net again making it 18-7, but a Lions goal made it 18-8. Morgan Livingston scored her first collegiate goal giving Arizona State a 19-8 lead to end the frame.
Sara Flobeck made her first appearance this season after coming in as relief to start the final quarter. Addy Westerberg netted a goal, but the Lions responded with a goal, 20-9. Ava Whittand Kara Harris joined the scoring and extended the Sun Devils’ lead to 22-9, with six minutes left in the match. Shevitz found the back of the net again to end the contest 23-9.

Arizona State will take on Marquette on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 12 p.m. MST for their third of seven straight home games. The game is slated to be streamed on ESPN+.
