(Glendale, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (17-4, 9-2 in ACCAC) earned its fifth straight win on Wednesday picking up the road victory at Glendale Community College (7-12, 2-8).
The No. 12 ranked Aztecs used a big run in the second quarter to establish a lead and helped put the game away in the fourth quarter in their 89-49 win. The Aztecs are averaging 82.8 points during the five-game win streak.
The Aztecs led 40-23 at halftime as freshman Reigne Waugh scored the first points of the third quarter, but the Gauchos went on a 16-6 run to cut Pima’s lead to single digits at 48-39.
The Aztecs regrouped and closed out the quarter on a 12-1 run to make it 60-40 heading into the final 10 minutes of regulation. The Aztecs scored 14 straight points in the fourth quarter and outscored Glendale 29-9 to secure the win.
The Gauchos cut Pima’s lead to 20-19 early in the second quarter with a three-pointer, but the Aztecs went on a 20-0 run with seven different scorers to go up 40-19. They led 40-23 at the break.
Sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller posted her eighth double-double of the season as she finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds to go with one steal and two blocks.
Sophomore Melicia Nelson (Window Rock HS) scored nine of her 12 points in the second half as she was 5-for-8 from the field and added four assists.
Waugh and freshman Kahlia Gonzales (Mesquite HS) each scored 10 points while freshman Lucy Fisher (Mesquite HS) contributed with eight points and 13 rebounds.
Sophomore Cassie Coolidge (Sahuaro HS) had nine points on 3-for-3 shooting and sophomore Lucy Land posted eight points and six rebounds.

The Aztecs will hit the road once again on Saturday when they play at No. 11 Mesa Community College. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
