Tucson Takes First Game Against Eagles with Authority

(Mexicali, BC)  The Tucson Baseball Team defeated the Mexicali Eagles tonight in the first game of the series in Baja California with a decisive 7-3 victory. Mexicali, playing as the visiting team at their home stadium tonight, scored the first run in the very first inning when Norberto Obeso scored on a double by Yadir Drake.

The lead was extended to 2-0 in the third inning with the same duo, a single by Yadir Drake that drove in Norberto Obeso.

Tucson took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Alexis Wilson drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and Marcos Valenzuela followed with a bases-clearing triple, scoring José Carlos Ureña and Gaige Howard to make it 3-2.

Mexicali, playing as the visiting team tonight, scored the first run. The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning, when the Tucson team used 10 batters to score four runs, extending their lead to 7-2 over the Mexicali Eagles.

Marcos Valenzuela hit a double to drive in one run, Ramón Mendoza followed with a double to drive in two more, scoring Alexis Wilson and Marcos Valenzuela, and finally, Jesús Fabela singled to bring Ramón Mendoza home, making it 7-2.

Luis Santos drove in a run for the Eagles in the top of the eighth inning, making the score 7-3 in favor of Tucson.

Zoé Carrillo earned his third win of the season, while Jason Blanchard took the loss, his second of the season.
