Tucson Baseball Team Tied the Series in Mazatlán

(Mazatlán, Sinaloa)  Tonight, Tucson tied the series by defeating the Venados de Mazatlán 2-1 in the second game of the series in the Sinaloa port city.

Samar Leyva opened the scoring with a single to center field, allowing Jesús Fabela to score.

Ramón Mendoza drove in the second run with an RBI single, scoring José Carlos Ureña for Tucson.

The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Italo Mota singled to

first base off Tucson reliever Jake Gozzo, driving in Leo Germán to bring Tucson within one

run at 2-1.

In the ninth inning, the towering pitcher Garret Alexander took the mound and retired the

Mazatlán batters in order, earning his seventh save of the season.

Zoé Carrillo (3-1) earned the win, pitching 5.3 innings with 5 strikeouts and no runs allowed,

while Braulio Torres-Pérez (0-1) took the loss.
