(Mazatlán, Sinaloa) A series began tonight in the port city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, with Dalton Rodríguez pitching for Tucson facing former major leaguer José Luis Urquidi of the Venados, with Tucson emerging victorious 5-3.
The first run of the game was scored by Tucson, with Samar Leyva driving in José Carlos Ureña with a single to left field in the top of the second inning.

The Venados quickly tied the game in the bottom of the same inning with an RBI double by Brayan Quintero.
The tie remained until the fourth inning, when Mazatlán broke it, scoring a run on a single by Andrés Alvarez.
The Venados added another run in the sixth, increasing their lead to 3-1, on a single by Brayan Quintero, with Andrés Alvarez scoring on the play. In the bottom of the seventh inning, two more runs for Venados put them up 5-1. This time, Leo Germán drove in one with a sacrifice fly, and Andrés Alvarez drove in another with a fielder’s choice, scoring Estamy Ureña.

In the top of the ninth, José Carlos Ureña hit his second home run of the season, driving in Gaige Howard for the final score of 5-3.
José Luis Urquidi (1-1) earned the win, his first of the season, defeating Dalton Rodríguez (0-3).
