Isaac Johnson pops off for 42 points, Isaiah Hill posts triple -double as Men’s Basketball beats Benedictine University JV

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (2-0) hosted Benedictine University Mesa JV on Friday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

The No. 3 ranked Aztecs took control early in the second half to beat the Redhawks 132-53.

Up 60-33 at halftime, the Aztecs opened the second half with a 27-2 run in six minutes to make it 87-35. Pima reached the 100-point mark mid-way into the second half to make it 100-43. The Aztecs outscored the Redhawks 72-20 in the second half.

Sophomore Isaac Johnson finished with a game-high and a personal Pima career-high of 42 points as he went 20 for 23 from the field. He had a stretch of scoring 14 of Pima’s 16 points and finished the first half with 27 points.

Freshman Isaiah Hill (Premier Prep) put his stamp on the game with a triple-double of 18 points, 12 assists and 11 steals. He went 8 for 12 from the field.

Sophomore Ky Green (Liberty HS) produced a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds to go with three assists and two steals.

Sophomore Brock Mendoza added 13 points and four blocks while freshman Gerron Graham (Premier Prep) posted 13 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals.

Sophomore Taevean Famutimi-Brown also scored in double figures as he added 10 points to go with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman Drew Hall (Red Mountain HS) had eight points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Thursday when they host Arizona Christian University JV. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
