Hockey falls to #3 Denver 7-1

(Tempe, AZ)  Sun Devil Hockey dropped the first game of its weekend series against No. 3 Denver, 7-1 , on Saturday night at Mullett Arena.

Denver (9-3-1, 5-0-0 NCHC) scored the first four goals of the game – with three coming in the first 21 minutes of play – to put the game out of reach for the Sun Devils (4-9-1, 2-4-1 NCHC).

Forward Bennett Schimek scored his 40th career goal on the power play to extend his point streak to now three games.

The Sun Devils will aim to split the series against the Pioneers tomorrow. Puck drop is slated for 5 p.m. MST. Coverage can be seen on NCHC.tv and aired locally on Fox 10 Xtra with Tyler Paley and Alex Coil on the call.
