(Guasave, Sinoloa) A rally game in Guasave was experienced tonight at Kuroda Park, home of the Algodoneros. Tucson won, taking the first win of the road series.
The first rally went to Algodoneros, who opened the scoring with a grand slam home run, putting the Guasave Algodoneros ahead 4-0. Anthony García put the ball over the fence, beating Alan Espinoza, Jorge Flores, and Esteban Quiroz to make it 4-0.
Tucson took advantage of the Algodoneros’ sluggish pitching and, in the top of the fourth inning, managed to reach home plate six times for a juicy six-run rally that turned the score around 6-4, putting Tucson ahead.
With the bases loaded, Misael Rivera was hit to score the first run on a “horse,” Aldo Nuñez singled, scoring Bobby Bradley, and a walk to Jesús Favela again drove in another run, leaving the bases loaded. Gaige Howard doubled to drive in three, clearing the bases to make the score 6-4.
Guasave’s team again came close with a run on the board, with Jorge Flores’ sacrifice fly scoring Alan Espinoza on the hit-and-run play.
In the ninth, Guasave threatened and put runners on base, but Garret Alexander tightened his grip and held off the batters to earn his third save of the season.
Daniel Zazueta earned the win, while Algodonero starter Julio Robaina took the loss.
