(Riverside, CA) The Pima Community College men’s cross country team competed at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday hosted by the University of California, Riverside.
The No. 18 ranked Aztecs finished the race in 21st place out of 25 teams with a score of 535. The University of Arizona took first place with 36 points. Central Arizona College took 10th place with 271 points and Paradise Valley Community College placed 18th with 482 points.
All five Pima runners who scored team points, secured new collegiate personal records for this season in the 8K (4.97 mile) race.
Freshman Jose Hernandez (Rio Rico HS) was the top Pima finisher as he placed 99th out of 285 competitors with a time of 25 minutes, 20.5 seconds, setting a new collegiate personal record.
Sophomore Tayvien Biancuzzo (Mica Mountain HS) set a new PR when he crossed the finish line at 25:44.5.
Freshman Kallen McCracken (Mountain ridge HS) set his new PR at 25:45.8 while freshman David Felix (Nogales HS) closed out the race with a PR time of 26:15.3.
Sophomore Noah Brunet (Ironwood Ridge HS) rounded out the top five in team scoring as he finished with a 2025 PR time of 26:17.2. Brunet’s best collegiate time in the 8K is 25:50.0 set at last year’s Highlander Invitational.
The Aztecs will compete at the Region I, Division I Championships on Saturday. Location and start times are TBA.
