Prince Dorbah (Defensive Player of the Week), Jesus Gomez (Special Teams Player of the Week), and the Sun Devil Defensive Line were recognized for their performances in the win over TCU on Friday.

(Irving, TX)  Sun Devil Football was heavily featured in the weekly awards given out by the Big 12 Conference on Monday.

The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week is Sun Devil defensive lineman Prince Dorbah, while Jesus Gomez was tabbed as the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week. Additionally, Arizona State’s defensive line was recognized as the top unit in the league this week, giving the program three of the nine total honorees for week five. In Arizona State’s epic 27-24 comeback win over TCU, Dorbah and the defensive line teamed up with Gomez to come through with clutch plays in crunch time.

In the Kenny Dillingham era, a Sun Devil has now won a conference player of the week award 22 times. ASU led the Big 12 and was third nationally with 12 conference player of the week selections last season. They are off to a strong start this year up to six selections through five weeks. Gomez is the second Sun Devil this season and fifth overall to earn Special Teams Player of the Week honors from a conference since Kenny Dillingham took over in 2023. Dorbah is the second Sun Devil this season and fourth in the Dillingham era to earn Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first year of the new weekly conference award format honoring an offensive and defensive line unit each week. ASU’s defensive line is the first Sun Devil unit to be recognized under the updated process.
