(Mesa, AZ) The Park University Gilbert men’s soccer team (2-3-3, 1-0-2) played to a 1-1 draw against the Arizona Christian University Firestorm (3-1-2, 0-0-1), Thursday night at Arizona Athletic Grounds.
The Buccaneers remain without an in-conference loss through three games, following Thursday night’s match which turned out to be a tale of two halves.
Junior forward Monty Almaliky got the Bucs on the board early with a score in the 10th minute, off an assist from junior forward Ilan Rodriguez-Roda.
After 75 minutes of scoreless soccer, a successful penalty kick from senior midfielder Marcos Mora evened the game at 1-1.
Nicklas Lagesen got his seventh start in net and picked up three saves in this outing.
ACU outshot the Bucs 9-6, with both teams recording four shots on goal.
The Buccaneers return to the pitch this Thursday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. MST, to face the OUAZ Spirit on the road at Spirit Field in Surprise, Arizona.
