(Roswell, NM) The Pima Community College volleyball team closed out play in the New Mexico Military Institute Classic on Saturday in Roswell, NM.
The Aztecs went 0-4 as it played against four NJCAA Division I teams. Sophomore Maggie McReynolds (Mountain View HS) closed out the day with 28 kills and 23 digs. She finished the NMMI Classic with a total of 51 kills and 46 digs in four matches. Freshman Alex Jacome (Canyon del Oro HS) posted 36 assists and five aces in Saturday’s games.
Hill College Rebels 3, Pima CC Aztecs 1 (25-20, 16-25, 26-24, 31-29)
The Aztecs were able to tie the match with a second set victory, but the Rebels won two close matches to win it.
McReynolds finished with a double-double of 17 kills and 14 digs while freshman Julia Ford (Catalina Foothills HS) posted 16 digs and four aces. Jacome had 21 assists and three aces.
(19) Odessa College Wranglers 3, Pima CC Aztecs 0 (25-15, 27-25, 25-18)
The Aztecs fell in straight sets to the Wranglers to close out the NMMI Classic.
McReynolds finished with 11 kills and nine digs. Sophomore Julia Baird added nine kills and three blocks while freshman Alexia Hutchens (Salpointe Catholic HS) closed out the match with eight kills.
Jacome had 15 assists, eight digs and two aces while sophomore Julia Weatherbie (Mountain View HS) finished with 15 assists and four aces.
The Aztecs will host their home opener as part of the Third Annual Aztec Classic. They will play North Idaho College on Thursday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
