Baseball pitching standout J.T. Drake named NJCAA All-American

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College baseball player J.T. Drake (Los Alamos HS, NM) capped off his Pima career with a big honor from the NJCAA.

Drake, a sophomore RHP, was named third team NJCAA Division I All-American on Monday. This is the second straight year the Aztecs have produced an NJCAA All-American. Andrew Stucky (Canyon del Oro HS) earned Honorable Mention recognition last season as he was the first Pima baseball All-American since Phillip Sikes in 2019.

Drake was a two-time All-ACCAC conference pitcher during his career as he earned first-team this year and was selected second-team as a freshman.

Drake started in 16 games this season, going 10-4 with a 2.28 ERA in 98.2 innings pitched. He threw eight complete games with 84 strikeouts and 17 walks. He finished with a WHIP of 1.04 and an average of 7.66 in strikeouts per nine-innings.

He led the NJCAA with 15 saves last season.Drake closes out his Pima career going 15-4 with a 2.21 ERA giving up 36 earned runs in 146.1 innings pitched. He had 142 strikeouts and 29 walks in 41 appearances. The Aztecs went a combined 91-36, made two trips to the NJCAA West District Tournament and captured a Region I, Division I title with Drake on the roster.

He will pitch for Texas Tech University starting in the fall.
