(Tucson, AZ) Pima Community College men’s cross country and men’s track & field distance runner Abraham Valenzuela (Palo Verde HS) will continue his educational and collegiate endeavors at the NCAA Division I level.
Valenzuela, a sophomore, committed to the Middle Tennessee State University, an NCAA Division I institution in Murfreesboro, TN. The Blue Raiders compete in Conference USA.
Valenzuela broke three Pima Indoor school records in the one-mile (4:03.76) the 3,000-meters (8:30.01) and the Distance Medley Relay (10:01.73). He is also second in the 800 meters at 1:53.78. Valenzuela is also second in the 1,500-meters (3:49.41) and the 5,000-meters (14:23.24) set during the Outdoor season. He produced seven top 10 marks and nine NJCAA national qualifying marks.
He was a three-time NJCAA Region I Champion as her took first place in the 1,500 meters in 2023, the 5,000-meters champion in 2024 and the individual title in the 8K (4.97 miles) during the 2023 cross country season. He captured the ACCAC Conference crown in the 5,000 this season.
Valenzuela placed second in the one-mile race at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships this season. He is fourth all-time in the NJCAA one-mile race. He finished as a three-time NJCAA All-American.
Valenzuela helped the Aztecs earn back-to-back Region I Team Championships.
