(Mesa, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out competition at the Region I Championships on Thursday at Mesa Community College.
The Aztecs took third place in the final team standings with 169 points. Central Arizona College placed first with 265 points and Mesa Community College were second with 244.
Freshmen jumpers Ja’Niya Ross (Desert Vista HS) and April Necaise tied for first place in the High Jump as they each cleared the bar on their first attempts at 1.68 meters (5-feet, 6-inches). They both fell short of 1.73 meters (5-8).
Freshman Izzy Green (McClintock HS) took third place in the High Jump and though she cleared the winning bar at 1.68 meters (5-6), she got it on her third attempt. Ross, Necaise and Green combined to score 24 team points.

Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) – 3rd place in 1,500 meters 4:58.44 (6 points); 4thin 5,000 meters 19:59.52 (5 points)
Tayler Crane – 3rd place in 400-meter hurdles 1:04.52 (6 points); 8th place in 400 meters 59.23 (1 point)
Trinity Bethea, Tayler Crane, Naiomi Hereim, Tristin Duron – 3rd place in 4×400 relay 3:55.08 (6 points)
Jalise Wyatt (Cienega HS), Tristin Duron (Marana HS), Brianne Roberts, Larissa Blanchard (Perry HS) – 4th place in 4×100 relay 49.59 (5 points)
April Necaise – 4th place in Triple Jump 10.72 meters (35-2) (5 points)
Mariah Cruz (Mountain View HS) – 5th place in 5,000 meters 20:33.50 (4 points)
Trinity Bethea (Pinon HS) – 5th place in 400 meters 57.25 (4 points); 8th place in 200 meters 26.15 (1 point).
Kapualani Magnani (Empire HS) – 5th place in Discus 32.71 meters (107-3) (4 points); 6th place in Shot Put 11.03 meters (36-2.25) (3 points)
Annika Arvayo (Salpointe Catholic HS) – 5th place in Shot Put 11.11 meters (36-5.50) (4 points); 7th place in Discus 31.81 meters (104-4) (2 points)
Tianna Moseley – 6th place in 100-meter hurdles 14.94 (3 points)
Tristin Duron (Marana HS) – 7th place in 400 meters 58.76 (2 points)
Bella Vasquez (Mountain View HS) – 7th place in 400-meter hurdles 1:12.07 (2 points)
Larissa Blanchard – 8th place in 400-meter hurdles 1:12.22 (1 point)
Lopez (Canyon del Oro HS) – 8th place in Discus 24.94 meters (81-10); 8th in Shot Put 9.21 meters (30-2.75) (1 point)
The Aztecs will compete at NJCAA Division I National Championships on May 16-18 at Brown Stadium held at the University of Louisiana Monroe in West Monroe, LA.
