Myranda Moreno shoots season-best, earns medalist honors at SMCC Invitational

(Phoenix, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s golf team competed in its fifth tournament of the season on Tuesday and Wednesday at the South Mountain CC Invitational held at the Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix.

Sophomore Myranda Moreno (Tucson Magnet HS) shot a season-best 79 in the final round as she earned medalist honors after taking fifth place with a total of 161 (82-79).

Sophomore Kayley Yanez (Marana HS) improved by 3-strokes in the second round as she took 12th place with a score of 181 (92-89).

Freshman Arianna Rel had a 10-stroke improvement from her first round of play as she shot a 182 (96-86).

The Aztecs will play in their final regular season tournament on Sunday and Monday, April 14-15in the Chandler-Gilbert CC Invitational. It will be held at the Las Colinas Golf Club in Queen Creek. Teams will begin to tee off at 1:00 p.m.
