Larissa Blanchard and Trinity Bethea break their own school records at Mesa Invitational

(Mesa, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s track & field team completed the regular season on Friday at the Mesa Invitational.

Freshman Larissa Blanchard (Perry HS) broke her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles as she finished in fifth place with a time of 14.31 seconds. She originally broke the record at the Arizona Spring Break Fiesta on Mar. 16 with a time of 14.36.

Sophomore Trinity Bethea (Pinon HS) broke her own school record in the 400 meters with a time of 56.12 seconds. She previously set the school record at the Willie Williams Invitational on Mar. 22 with a time of 56.23.

Sophomore Jenyce Lopez (Canyon del Oro HS) earned an NJCAA national qualifying mark in the hammer throw, finishing with a throw of 44.30 meters (145-feet, 4-inches).

Freshman Morgan Pepe (Ironwood Ridge HS) improved on her qualifier in the Pole Vault as she took sixth place with a vault of 3.57 meters (11-feet, 8.50-inches). She remains third in Outdoor school history. Her original qualifier was set at 3.50 meters (11-5.75).

The No. 8 ranked Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region I Multi’s Championships on Monday and Tuesday at Mesa Community College. Competition begins at 3:00 p.m. on both days.
