Jesus Quintero and Nasir Tucker earn national qualifiers at GCC Invitational; Tyler Crane improves 400 hurdle for third straight meet

(Glendale, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams competed at the GCC Invitational on Saturday held at Glendale Community College.

The No. 4 ranked men’s team added two more NJCAA national qualifying marks. Sophomore Jesus Quintero took second place in the 400-meter hurdles with a national qualifying time of 54.21 seconds. His previous-best in the event had been 55.43. He inched closer to a qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles as he finished at 14.68 (qualifier is 14.52).

Freshman Nasir Tucker earned his second national qualifier of the Outdoor season. Tucker, primarily a sprinter, took first place and earned a national qualifying mark in the Long Jump at 7.32 meters (24-feet, 0.25-inches). He has a qualifier in the 400 meters that he set at 47.58 from the ACCAC Conference Championships.

In No. 7 ranked Aztecs women’s track & field competition, freshman Tayler Crane improved on her time in the 400-meter hurdles for the third straight week. She took first place with a time of 1:03.52 on Saturday. She improved on her national qualifier that was set last week at the Triton Invitational when she finished with a time of 1:05.01.

The Aztecs will compete in their final regular season meet of the Outdoor season on Friday at the Mesa Outdoor Meet. It will be held at Mesa Community College.
