Aztecs Women’s Golf takes second place at the Mesa CC Invitational to open 2024 season

(Mesa, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s golf team opened the 2024 season on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the Mesa CC Invitational held at the Dobson Ranch Golf Course.

The Aztecs took second place with a total team score of 694. They improved by 12-strokes in the second as they finished with scores of 353 and 341. Mesa Community College took first place with a 667 (331-336) and Chandler-gilbert Community College placed third with 707 (357-350).

Freshman Maud Bartels was the top scorer for the Aztecs as she took seventh place in the final individual standings with a score of 169 (86-83).

Sophomore Kayley Yanez (Marana HS) also finished in the top 10 as she shot a 174 (88-86).

Sophomore Myranda Moreno (Tucson Magnet HS) improved by 7-strokes in her second round of play as she closed out the tournament with a 175 (91-84).

Freshman Brooklin Montoya had a 176 (88-88).

The Aztecs will play in the Paradise Valley CC Invitational on Feb. 25-26 at the Encanto Golf Course in Phoenix. Teams begin to tee off at 10:00 a.m.
