Reliford Tabbed Cal Pac Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

(Gilbert, AZ)  Park University Gilbert women’s basketball player Jayla Reliford was selected as the California Pacific Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week in the conference’s first installment of the award for the 2023-24 season. This is the second time Reliford has won the award, having won it last season in the next to last week of the season.

Reliford and the Bucs have only played one game so far this season, but it was a masterclass for both the team and its point guard who posted the second triple double in school history and was just two steals short of a quadruple double.

Reliford had 14 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists and 8 steals against SAGU-AIC in a 105-36 Buccaneer victory. The New Hope, Minn., guard set new career highs for assists and steals and tied her career high for rebounds.

Reliford looks to take her game to another level here as a junior. She was third in the country in assists per game last season and has an array of new weapons at her disposal in addition to the returning players who helped her last season.

The Buccaneer women travel to take on Division I Idaho State this Wednesday, November 8 at 7 p.m. The game can be watched on ESPN+.
