(Pocatello, ID)  The Park University Gilbert women’s basketball team dropped an exhibition contest 97-58 to NCAA Division I Idaho State this evening in Pocatello, Idaho.

The Bucs struggled to get anything going in the first quarter other than by junior Kayla Schroeder who scored eight of the Bucs 10 points in the period. Schroder shot 3-5 from the floor as the rest of the team was 1-9.

Schroeder, who added four points in the second quarter received a little more help as Jayla Reliford and Kae Counce each had four points as well. The Bengals went into the half more than doubling the Bucs score 49-24.

Park came out and was much more competitive in the third quarter as Reliford scored eight points and six Bucs scored in the quarter. The Bucs got to the free throw line 10 times and converted for six of their points.

As a team, the Buccaneers finished shooting 33 percent from the floor, 25 percent from three and 63 percent from the charity stripe.

Individually, Schroeder led the team with 17 points and four rebounds. She finished shooting 6-11 from the floor and 2-4 from long range. Reliford finished with 12 points, three boards and three assists.

Park returns to the court and regular season play against Arizona Christian next Wednesday, November  15 at 5:30 p.m. at Legacy Sports Park in Mesa, Ariz.
