Morgan Hains named Libero of the Year; Abby Whatton selected All-Conference

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College volleyball standouts Morgan Hains (Canyon del Oro HS) and Abby Whatton (Canyon del Oro HS) received praise for their play during the regular season.

Hains, a sophomore, was selected the ACCAC Libero of the Year, along with being named second team All-ACCAC and to the NJCAA Region I, Division II team. The Aztecs have produced the conference Libero of the Year in two of the last three years as Aydalis Felix (Rincon HS) earned the honor in 2021.
Hains led the ACCAC Conference with 547 digs and a 5.31 average per set. She also had 795 serve receptions, 138 assists, 33 aces and 40 points in 103 sets played. She played in all 28 matches.

Whatton, a sophomore outside hitter, was named All-ACCAC Honorable Mention. She led the Aztecs with 283 kills, 309.0 points, and was second on the team with 210 digs. Whatton was fifth in the ACCAC with 3.11 kills per set. She also finished the regular season with 368 serve receptions, 838 total attacks and 19 aces in 27 matches and 91 sets played.

The Aztecs will be the No. 3 seed for the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament and will start off the double-elimination tournament against No. 2 seeded Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. All matches will be played at No. 1 overall seed Scottsdale Community College.
