Aztecs Women’s Soccer produces seven goal scorers in shutout win over South Mountain to end regular season

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (7-6-2, 6-4-2 in ACCAC) closed out the regular season on Thursday at the West Campus Aztec Field.

The Aztecs blanked South Mountain Community College 7-0. They locked in the No. 3 seed for the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament.

The Aztecs had seven different goal scorers in the game. Sophomore Kyleigh Oliver (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished the match with one goal in the 19th minute and three assists.

She provided assists on three straight goals. Oliver found sophomore Juliana Valdez (Tucson Magnet HS) for her goal in the 43rd minute to put Pima up 4-0 at halftime. Freshman Ariela Sanchez-Hermosillo (Sahuaro HS) scored in the 49th minute which gave Oliver her second assist of the game. Oliver got her third assist when she found freshman Solaris Graves for her goal in the 52nd minute to make it 6-0.

Sophomore Sydney Yebra (Tucson Magnet HS) got the Aztecs on the scoreboard in the 7th minute with an assist from Valdez.

Sophomore Gabi Amparano (Salpointe Catholic HS) made it 3-0 with her goal in the 39th minute.

Freshman Amber Conner (Tanque Verde HS) helped seal the win with her goal in the final minute of the game.

The Aztecs outshot the Cougars 25-1 for the game. Adriana Pacheco (Cienega HS) played the first half and had one save. Freshman Jasmin Delgado (Salpointe Catholic HS) played the second half and had no saves.

The Aztecs will be the No. 3 seed for the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament and will play at No. 2 Scottsdale Community College on Tuesday. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
