Up to this point in the season, goal scoring had mostly been the Emma Alvarez show. But today, the Buccaneers showed they have more than just Alvarez as Emily Gibb and Alexandra White showcased their skills in leading the Bucs to a 2-1 upset win over the Warriors. This is the first win in the series for the Buccaneers against Westcliff as they had been 0-4 before tonight.

Westcliff came into the season receiving top-25 votes in the preseason NAIA poll. This is the first win for the Bucs over a team who had been ranked at any point in the season.

Gibb got Park Gilbert on the board quickly with a goal at two minutes into the game with an assist from White. That would be the score as the two teams went to halftime.

Westcliff answered back 12 minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal from Alberte Angersbach in the 57th minute.

For awhile it looked as thought the Bucs might get back-to-back tie games on this road trip before White came through with the go ahead goal at 77:22.

The Bucs then put the defensive clamps down allowing only two shots from the Warriors over the last 13 minutes of the game to walk away with the win.

The Buccaneers made their opportunities count being outshot 14-5 and 5-3 in shots on goal.

Catherine Corlett picks up the win in goal making four saves and lowering her goals against average to 1.64 on the season.

After winning on Thursday 5-0 at Soka, Park Gilbert found themselves on the opposite end of the same score against Westcliff.

The Warriors scored three goals in the first half and added two insurance tallies in the second to get the win over the Bucs, their fifth in a row in the series.

The Warriors onslaught included 18 shots (11 on goal) on Park goalkeeper Zac Stephenson. Six different players had multiple shots on the evening and three players had two or more shots on goal. Meanwhile the Buccaneers offense only managed five shots (2 on goal).

Both teams return home for two matches next week against La Sierra and Saint Katherine at Legacy Sports Park. The Bucs play LSU on Thursday, September 14 and USK on Saturday, September 16. The women will play at 6 p.m. and the men will start at 8 p.m. both nights.
