(Tucson, AZ) The Pima Community College women’s soccer team bounced back from its season opening loss on Saturday as it hosted South Mountain Community College at the West Campus Aztec Field.
The No. 5 ranked Aztecs scored five goals in the first half and went on to beat the Cougars 7-1.
Freshmen Solaris Graves (Ironwood Ridge HS) and Camila Razcon (Marana HS) each netted two goals. Graves made it 2-0 with her goal in the 12th minute that was assisted by sophomore Juliana Valdez (Tucson Magnet HS). She scored the final goal of the game in the 72nd minute.
Razcon put in her first goal in the 40th minute to make it 4-1 with an assist from freshman Neveah Covarrubias (Pueblo HS). She scored again to make it 6-1 in the 66thminute with an assist from Valdez.
Valdez set the tone as she netted the first goal of the game in the 2nd minute. The Aztecs also got goals from freshman Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS) in the 30th minute and freshman Viviana Sanchez (Tucson Magnet HS) in the 48th minute.
The Aztecs closed out the game with 39 shots on goal. Freshman Jasmin Delgado finished the game with two saves.
The Aztecs will hit the road for the next three games. They will play at Scottsdale Community College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
