Montealegre scores twice and Ruiz has a goal and two assists as Men’s Soccer overpowers South Mountain CC

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (2-0) took control early in its non-conference match against South Mountain Community College (0-1).

The No. 8 ranked Aztecs scored six goals in the first half and went on their way to a 9-0 victory.

Freshman Jose Luis Martin Montealegre scored two goals. He put the Aztecs up 2-0 in the 9th minute off an assist from freshman Ismael Ruiz (Tucson Magnet HS) and found the back of the net once again in the 19th minute to make it 4-0.

Ruiz got his first assist off sophomore Stetson Milligan’s (Cienega HS) goal in the 5thminute and contributed with a goal of his own in the 79th minute to make it 8-0.

Freshmen Mateo Soto (Tucson Magnet HS), Missael Montilla (Tucson Magnet HS), Volaire Tillakembaye (Rincon HS), Nico Valenzuela (Salpointe Catholic HS) and sophomore Jobany Estrada (Desert View HS) each scored a goal.

Freshman Jose Carlos Ortiz (Nogales HS) and sophomore James Lynch (Salpointe Catholic HS) each finished with one save as the Aztecs outshot the Cougars 19-2.

The Aztecs will hit the road for three straight games as they play at Scottsdale Community College on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
