Sammon Wins Three Medals at LEN U23 European Championships

(DUBLIN, Ireland)  Incoming junior Patrick Sammon took home three medals this past week at the inaugural League of European Nations Under 23 Championship representing the U.S. as he won gold in the 100m freestyle and as a part of the 4×100 mixed freestyle relay as well as taking silver in the 200m free.

Sammon clinched his first medal on Friday as he swam a 1:47.47 to win silver. On Sunday, Sammon won his first gold medal of the meet by swimming a time of 48.53 in the 100m freestyle. He capped off his time in Dublin by swimming a 48.68 split en route to the U.S.’s gold medal in the 4×100 mixed free relay.

Sammon is coming off competition for the U.S. at the US Swimming National Championships in Indianapolis where he competed in the 100m free and 200m free back in June.

Last season, Sammon represented the Sun Devils as a part of the 800m free relay that won a Pac-12 Championship and was also named an All-American in that event. He received an All-American honor in the 200m free and had two top-10 finishes (800m free relay and 200m free) at the NCAA Championships.
