Former Pacific assistant completes Sun Devils staff
(Tempe, AZ) The coaching staff for Sun Devil softball was finalized on Monday as head coach Megan Bartlett announced the addition of Hailey Decker.
“I am thrilled to welcome Hailey to the Sun Devil softball family,” Bartlett said. “She is one of the brightest young minds in the game, an extremely hard worker and possesses an infectious personality. She is a perfect fit for this program. Hailey will be so much fun to work with, and she will contribute many wins during her time as a Sun Devil.”
Decker shared, “I’m ecstatic to be a part of the Arizona State University athletic department. I believe in Coach Bartlett’s vision and feel blessed to be a part of such a talented staff. I look forward to working towards bringing championships back to Tempe.”
Decker makes her way to Tempe after spending the past four seasons on the University of the Pacific staff. During that time, the Tigers had a pair of winning seasons. She joined the Tigers program after serving two seasons as an assistant at Pacific University, located in Forest Grove, Oregon. During that tenure, Decker helped lead the Boxers to consecutive Northwest Conference Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019.
Prior to her time with the Boxers, Decker was an assistant at Corban University, where she was the infield and hitting coach. While with the Warriors’ she helped coach the team to a Cascade Collegiate Conference title and a runner-up finish in the NAIA World Series.
The Keizer, Oregon native’s coaching roots come from her father, Steve Decker, who played baseball professionally before moving into the coaching ranks for the San Francisco Giants organization.
Decker, a middle infielder, played for two elite programs during college. She began her collegiate career at Nebraska in 2013, where she helped the Huskers to a stellar 45-16 record en route to an appearance at the Women’s College World Series. As a sophomore, the Huskers recorded another 40-win season at 44-18 before advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals. Decker set the Huskers’ single-season record for doubles in her final season with Nebraska and was named First Team All-Big 10 and First Team All-Midwest Region.
Decker transferred to the University of Oregon as a junior and was a starter for the Ducks in the 2015 WCWS. Earning All-Pac 12 Honorable Mention and First Team All-Pacific Region, Decker helped Oregon to back-to-back Pac-12 titles in 2015 and 2016.
Decker graduated with a degree in Psychology from Oregon in 2017.
Following graduation, Decker became a member of the Philippines National Team, where she went on to start for the national squad in the World Cup of Softball and the Canada Cup. In April of 2022, Decker was appointed the new head coach of the RP Blu Girls, the national team representing the Philippines.
