(San Francisco, CA)  A pair of Sun Devils were recognized with postseason awards from the Pac-12 Conference on Wednesday as the league announced its 2023 softball awards. Yanni Acuña was named First Team All-Pac-12 while Kylee Magee was selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.

This is the second consecutive first team selection for Acuña. She becomes the first Sun Devil to repeat on the first team since Dallas Escobedo in 2012 & 2013. Her selection means ASU has had a player make the first team in each of the past eight seasons – no team was named in 2020 – and Acuña is the 57th from the program named to the first team.

Acuña ended the regular season batting .396 while leading the club with 53 hits and 17 multi-hit games. She has reached base in 43 of the 47 games this season to move into second in the conference with a .515 on-base percentage. While ranking sixth in the Pac-12 in average, Acuña is also fourth in slugging (.716) and she sits third in runs scored, sixth in walks, eighth in total bases, and 11th in home runs.

Acuña continues to rise to the career leaderboards at ASU despite just two seasons as a full-time starter. She ranks in the program’s top 25 in eight statistical categories, including third in on-base percentage (.490) and fourth in slugging (.699). Her 153 career runs scored are seventh-most at ASU, and Acuña ranks eighth in doubles (44) and 11th with a .362 career batting average.

Magee earned her selection to the All-Freshman Team with a regular season that included four wins and a 3.17 ERA. Magee became the first freshman since Dale Ryndak in 2015 to start a season opener for the Sun Devils when she opened in the circle against CSUN. She has thrown three complete games with two shutouts and recorded 55 strikeouts in 70.2 innings.

Magee recorded at least three strikeouts in an appearance on 12 occasions and four times had at least five. She earned her first career win with a three-hit shutout of Portland State in the Farrington Stadium debut. Magee closed the regular season with a 1.27 ERA in her final four starts.
