Five Pima Women’s Basketball players commit to four-year institutions

(Tucson, AZ –Pima Community College women’s basketball players Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS), Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS), Matehya Aberle (Holbrook HS), Priscila Varela (Mesquite HS) and Camilla Norton (Casteel HS) all committed to continue their educational opportunities and playing careers at the four-year level.

Addleman, a sophomore guard, signed on to play at Ottawa University Arizona, an NAIA school in Surprise, AZ. The Spirit play in the Golden State Athletic Conference. Addleman played three seasons for the Aztecs and was a two-time All-ACCAC and All-Region I, Division II player. She was named the NJCAA Region I, Division II Championship Game MVP after Pima defeated Scottsdale Community College 59-50. She played in 67 career games for the Aztecs, making 54 starts in the backcourt averaging 42.6 percent from the field and 80.5 percent from the foul line.

Chavez, a sophomore guard, and Aberle, a sophomore forward, both signed to play at Fort Lewis College, an NCAA Division II in Durango, Colorado. The Skyhawks play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Chavez was named second team NJCAA All-American and was a three-time All-ACCAC and All-Region I player. She played in 76 career games and made 69 starts in the backcourt. She averaged 11.5 points and shot 80.1 percent from the free throw line for her career.

Aberle played in 51 games and made 45 starts in the frontcourt in her two seasons with the Aztecs. She shot 48.9 percent from the field and 70.7 percent from the free throw line for her career.

Varela, a sophomore guard, signed to play at Idaho State University, an NCAA Division I school in Pocatello, Idaho. The Bengals play in the Big Sky Conference. Varela played in 44 career games and started in 30 games over the last two seasons averaging 5.9 points per game.


 Norton, a sophomore guard, signed to Southern Virginia University, an NCAA Division III school in Buena Vista, Virginia. The Knights play in the USA South Athletic Conference. She played in 49 career games for the Aztecs.
