No. 16 Water Polo Takes on MPSF Championship Tournament

(San Jose, CA)  No. 16 Sun Devil Water Polo (9-12, 1-5) earned the 6 seed in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation after last week’s win over San Jose State, and is set to face 3 seeded No. 3 UCLA (19-5, 4-2) in the first round of the MPSF Championship Tournament at host school San Jose State on Friday, April 28 at 12:45 pm MST. All games will be broadcast via Game On Live Studio.

Arizona State faced off with the Bruins in Tempe earlier this season, and in the 17-10 loss freshman attacker Juliette Dhalluin tallied a career-high six goals and received Newcomer of the Week honors shortly after. ASU has not beaten UCLA since 2021’s overtime dub, which is one of the two wins over UCLA in program history.

The Sun Devils are fresh off of All-MPSF awards which were led by Juliette Dhalluin who was named to the All-Newcomer team as well as All-MPSF 2nd team. Junior attacker Luca Petovary was named All-MPSF Honorable Mention for the second time in her career.

With a win, the Sun Devils would be in the semifinal round and face the winner of the Stanford/San Jose State game at 12:45 pm MST on Saturday, A loss to UCLA would have ASU facing off against the loser between Stanford and SJSU at 11 am MST on Saturday.
