Bucs Lose Series Opener at Embry-Riddle

(Prescott, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert baseball team struggled both at the plate and on the mound in a 15-0 run-rule loss in the first game of a three-game series at Embry Riddle, Friday afternoon. The Buccaneers fall to 11-22 overall and 8-8 in conference.

The Buccaneers only managed five hits for the game as they struggled against Eagles starter Cole Altherr who threw six innings, striking out nine.

ERAU scored seven in the first two innings to put the Bucs in a deficit they were never able to overcome. ERAU added four more in the fourth and another four in the sixth. The game was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.

Joseph Chavira took the loss for the Bucs, his record drops to 0-2. Altherr upped his record to 3-1.

The Buccaneers are now 0-4 against Embry Riddle having been swept last season in the season finale in Prescott.

The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow with a double header starting at 11 a.m. Shaun Atamanchuk and Matthew Armendariz are the probable starters for the Bucs.
