Aztecs Track & Field earn five 1st place finishes at Mesa Outdoor Invitational

(Mesa, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field team competed at the Mesa Outdoor Invitational on Friday in Mesa.

The Aztecs produced five first-place finishes at the meet though no new national qualifying marks.

The No. 12 ranked Aztecs women’s track & field claimed three first place spots. Freshman Trinity Bethea took first place in the 400-meter race with a season-best time of 57.22 seconds. Her previous best was 58.66 set at the NAU Tune-Up during the Indoor Season. The national qualifying time is set at 56.34.

Freshman Brooke Peterson (Mingus HS) earned first place in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.50 meters (11-feet, 5.75-inches). Her best mark during the Outdoor Season has been 3.68 meters (12-0.75).

Freshman Tianna Moseley claimed the top spot in the Triple Jump as she finished with a mark of 10.99 meters (36-0.75). Her best mark in the event is 11.33 meters (37-2.25) as she inches closer to the national qualifying mark of 11.64 meters.

The No. 11 ranked Aztecs men’s track & field team produced two first-place finishers. Sophomore Trey Tintinger matched his best High Jump feat of the Outdoor Season as he took first place with a jump of 2.07 meters (6-9.50).

Sophomore Joshua Bowen closed out the Javelin in first place with a throw of 47.70 meters (156-6). He set his national qualifier at 54.04 meters (177-3) last month at the GCU Invitational

The Aztecs will compete in their final regular season meet of the season on Friday and Saturday April 21-22 at the Canyon Invitational at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
