No. 12 Beach Volleyball Falls to No. 6 Ottawa

(Mesa, AZ)  The No. 12 Park University Gilbert beach volleyball team dropped a dual match to No. 6 Ottawa University Arizona 5-0 today at Bell Bank Park in Mesa, Ariz.

The Buccaneers drop to 3-6 on the season, but all six of their losses have come at the hands of ranked opponents or NCAA Division II teams. Two of their three wins are also against ranked opposition.

The Buccaneers were highly competitive in the No. 1 and No. 2 flights losing in three sets in both matches. In the No. 1 flight match was an instant classis with all three sets being decided by the two points. The team of Megan Hicks and Annika Wallace lost the first set 21-19, won the second by the same score and then lost a tough third set 23-21. Meanwhile, the No. 2 squad of Georgia Romine-Black and Grace Baker also lost in the third after winning the first set of the match. The No. 5 team with Railey Druxman and Mallory Turner lost in two tight sets 21-17 and 23-21.

The Buccaneers will play a scrimmage against South Mountain Community College on Monday at 9 a.m. at Bell Bank Park. The team will celebrate its three seniors (Sierra Scott, Daniella Miranda-Johnson and Tiffany Maxey) starting at 8:30 a.m. before the match starts.
