Maria Harrouch claims third straight individual title at Paradise Valley Invitational

(Phoenix, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s golf team completed play in its fourth tournament of the season on Tuesday as part of the Paradise Valley CC Invitational held at the Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix.

The Aztecs finished in third place in the team standings and had a 21-stroke improvement between the day’s scores. They finished with an overall total of 671 (346-325) and were 4-strokes from South Mountain Community College for second place (667-333-334). Mesa Community College took first place with a 631 (320-311).

Sophomore Maria Harrouch won the individual tournament for the third straight time this season as she shot a 1-over par 73 in her final round and posted a two-day total of 150 (77-73). Harrouch topped Presley Pickron from Mesa as she finished 3-strokes behind with a 153 (77-76).

Sophomore Angelica Martinez (Tucson Magnet HS) produced a 4-stroke improvement in her second round of play as she finished in 11th place with a score of 168 (86-82).

Freshman Myranda Moreno (Tucson Magnet HS) improved by 5-strokes in Tuesday’s round as she shot a 171 (88-83) and placed 13th in the final individual standings.

Freshman Kayley Yanez (Marana HS) closed out her tournament with an 8-stroke distinction between rounds as she had a score of 182 (95-87).

The Aztecs will compete in the Chandler-Gilbert CC Invitational on Mar. 25-26 held at the Las Colinas Golf Club in Queen Creek. The teams will tee off at noon on both days.
