(Prescott, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s and women’s golf teams finished its final tune-up ahead of the conference tournament in the Embry Riddle Spring invitational at the Antelope Hills South Course.

The men’s team shot its best round of the tournament with a 299 which moved them up to a seventh place finish. The women only had two golfers competing individually and did not post a team score.

The Buccaneers were paced by Gunnar Hurt who shot a career best three-under 69. This was Hurt’s first round in the 60’s in a competitive collegiate round. Hurt bested the 70 he shot in November in the final round of the ACU Fall Invitational. Hurt’s round featured five birdies and only two bogeys.

Josh Smith used three birdies to shoot a three-over 75 and Max Callerman had 13 pars en route to a four-over 76.

On the ladies side, Taylor Gransen posted her second top-20 finish in three spring tournaments as she finished in a tie for 15th as she finished with a final round 81. Sammie Quilter had her best tournament of the spring finishing with a final round 85 and had all three rounds in the 80’s.

The Buccaneers hope to take the momentum of the final round of this tournament into the California Pacific Conference Championships April 10-12 at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder Creek, Nev. The men finished third last year and look to improve upon that finish. The women finished second a year ago but will only be able to field individuals for the tournament this year.
