Gage Mestas and Anthony Imhoff sweep ACCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College baseball players Gage Mestas and Anthony Imhoff (Queen Creek HS) produced standout performances for the week of February 26-March 4.

Mestas, a sophomore outfielder, was selected ACCAC Division I Player of the Week. Pima’s lead-off hitter went 9 for 16 (.563) with five RBIs, three runs scored, one double and one home run as the Aztecs swept South Mountain Community College and split with Eastern Arizona College. He is batting .373 on the season with 22 runs scored, 17 steals, 15 RBIs and eight extra-base hits.

Imhoff, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, was named ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week. Imhoff picked up the victory on the mound in Pima’s 1-0 win over Eastern Arizona College after he threw seven scoreless innings, giving up two hits with five strikeouts and no walks. He has pitched 25.1 innings so far this season, going 4-1 with a 2.84 ERA with 39 strikeouts and nine walks.

The Aztecs hit the road on Saturday as they play at Mesa Community College in an ACCAC conference doubleheader. First pitch is at noon.
