GAINESVILLE, Fla. – It was a physical back-and-forth battle on Sunday afternoon featuring four goals by Kaylon Buckner and Mina Scott along with five different Sun Devils scoring goals against No. 7 Florida. Arizona State lacrosse (1-4) finished its early season non-conference schedule with a 17-12 loss to the Gators (3-2).
Up next the Sun Devils will head to Los Angeles on Friday, March 17 for a 3:00 p.m. MST draw against USC for head coach Taryn VanThof’s first Pac-12 game. The game will be featured on USC Live-Stream and StatBroadcast.

FIRST QUARTER
After two Florida goals, Teagan Ng beat her defender in a foot race and slid one past the Gator goalie for a 2-1 game. Ng’s goal would be the only one for the Sun Devils in the first quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
Catching the Gators off guard defensively to begin the second, Lydia Oldknow led the Sun Devils’ three-goal sprint with a ripper. Fellow freshman Jordyn Behar followed up with her first collegiate goal less than four minutes later. Behar’s goal was an impressive ground ball behind her as Behar fell into the ground. Kaylon Buckner tied the game 4-4 as she rampaged passed a handful of Gator defenders and buried the shot. The second quarter would see three Florida goals to give them a 7-4 lead into the half.
THIRD QUARTER
Three and a half minutes into the third, Buckner drove into the slot and opened the Sun Devil scoring. The captain’s goal was met by three Gator goals before Buckner scored in a free position opportunity to tally her hat trick. Ng came back alive as she drove to the net a minute and a half later to sneak it past. Mina Scott grabbed her first goal of the day from a loose ball in front of the crease. To close out the third, Scott scored off a position to knock the Gator lead to 12-9.
FOURTH QUARTER
Florida scored three goals before Scott tallied her hat trick for the Sun Devils’ tenth goal on the day. Buckner and Scott each snagged one more to conclude the road trip in Gainesville.
