THE BIG MOMENT
After four innings without recording a hit, UC Davis finally started to have success against Curtis, recording a leadoff double in the fifth. Curtis sat down the next three hitters with ease. Ryan Campos smacked a two-out, two RBI homer in the bottom half, giving the Sun Devils a 5-0 lead.

THE FINAL STRAW
The Aggies put up four combined runs in the six and seventh innings, cutting the lead to 5-4. Jesse Wainscott came in and set all six batters down on 18 total pitches, sealing the victory.

INNING BY INNING

First Inning
Khristian Curtis sandwiched a ground ball between two strikeouts in a nine-pitch first frame.

Wyatt Crenshaw started the home with a leadoff walk. Luke Hill moved him to second with a single. Then, Ryan Campos pushed a single down the third base line, scoring Crenshaw for a 1-0 Sun Devil lead. Luke Keaschall walked to load the bases, and Jacob Tobias was immediately issued another free pass to make it 2-0 Sun Devils. Will Rogers pushed one more across on a double play, capping a three-run first inning for ASU.

Second Inning
Curtis worked a quick second inning and had 14 pitches through frames after two grounds and a flyout. The Aggies worked their first 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half of the second.

Third Inning
Curtis ripped through another quick inning by freezing the first hitter on strikes and earning two groundouts. It was more of the same in the ASU fourth, with the Sun Devils going down in order.

Fourth Inning
Curtis worked around a leadoff walk with a foul ball, pop fly to third, strikeout and a 6-3 putout. Willie Cano smacked a single with two down, but nothing came of it in the fourth.

Fifth Inning
UC Davis earned its first hit of the night on a leadoff double. Nu’u Contrades made a barehanded 5-3 putout to get the first out and the following two came on a groundout and foul out.

Contrades led off the frame with a single and Campos belted a home run over the left center field wall to make it 5-0 Sun Devils.

Sixth Inning
Curtis ran into trouble for the first time in the sixth, loading the bases with no outs. He bounced back, forcing a strikeout and an infield fly out for the first two outs. He was relieved by Christian Bodlovich. All three runners came across to score on a walk and two-RBI single. Matt Tieding recorded the final out of the sixth inning. The Sun Devils went down in order.

Seventh Inning
UC Davis led off the seventh with a solo home run over the left field wall, cutting the Sun Devils lead to 5-4. A hit-by-pitch ended Tieding’s night.
