(Mesa, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert baseball team overcame some costly errors to beat Providence Christian College 6-5 in the opener of a three-game set at Skyline High School.

The win moves the Bucs above .500 in conference at 4-3 and the up their record to 7-15 overall. Providence Christian falls to 4-10 and 0-5 in conference.

The Buccaneers jumped on top in the bottom of the third innings when leadoff hitter Chris Amador hit his first career home run over the left field fence.

PCC came back in the top half of the fourth with four runs of its own but they were all unearned. After two singles and a stolen base put runners on second and third with one out. An error allowed the first run to score and then after a fly out which would have ended the inning the Sea beggars plated three more runs with two more singles.

The Bucs cut the lead to one with two unearned runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth on a double by Logan Livingston.

The Bucs would tie the game in the fifth on a Jason Newton RBI single and then take the lead in the sixth on a solo home run from Travis Moore.

The Bucs got a solid outing from Joseph Chavira who went 5.0 innings allowing seven hits and striking out four. All four runs he allowed were unearned. He was relieved by Braden Levandowski who did not allow a hit in his three innings of work and struck out five. PCC was able to get across an unearned run in the eighth when an error allowed a run to score who had reached via a hit by pitch.

Park Gilbert was able to retake the lead in the bottom of the inning when Amador walked to lead off the inning and then stole second. He moved to third on a balk and then scored on a wild pitch.

A lead heading into the ninth means the opposition is going to see Bucs closer Diego Bustilloswho has never blown a save in his career. This did not change after a 1-2-3 ninth inning as Bustillos had a strike out, flyout and ground out to end the game.

Levandowski picks up his first career win and Bustillos his second save of the season and his first since January.

These two teams finish the series tomorrow with a double header starting at 10 a.m. at Skyline High School. The Canadian duo of Kyle Poapst and Shaun Attamanchuk are expected to get the start on the mound for the Buccaneers in the two contests.
