Rattlers place Powell on Injured Reserve sign QB Chris Dixon

(Phoenix, AZ)  The Arizona Rattlers have placed three-time MVP Drew Powell on the short-term IR with an upper-body injury.

The Rattlers have signed eight-time IFL Champion Chris Dixon in light of the Powell news.

Dixon is a four-time Indoor League MVP and was awarded the IFL Offensive Player of the Year four times along with being selected for First-Team All-IFL four times and a three-time United Bowl MVP. In 2015 he was inducted into the IFL Hall of Fame.

Arizona’s other quarterback is Jorge Reyna, who started in 8 games for the San Diego Strike Force last season during his rookie campaign. In those 8 games, he made quite the impact, throwing for a league-best 163.1 yards per game to go with 28 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions.

Reyna connected on 109 of 193 pass attempts (57%) for 1,305 total passing yards with his 28 touchdowns.

Head Coach Kevin Guy stated: “We wish Drew a speedy recovery. Jorge Reyna was brought in for a reason. He had a tremendous camp and put the time in and we feel that he is ready to capitalize on this opportunity.”

Guy on Dixon’s addition: “We signed Chris because he’s had great success in the Indoor Football League and he knows the game. Looking short-term, he’s been in the system as a coach and he knows our offense and can step in immediately if we need him to.”

The Arizona Rattlers’ next game is on April 8th at the Footprint Center against the Tucson Sugar Skulls.
