(San Francisco, CA)  174-pound redshirt freshman Cael Valencia is once again the Pac-12’s Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced today. It’s the second Pac-12 honor for Valencia in the past three weeks, and comes after the Sun Devil swept the weekend with wins over Little Rock’s Tristin Wills and Oregon State’s No. 22 Mateo Olmos. Sun Devil Wrestling has now collected four WOTW awards this season.

Valencia continued to make a name for himself last week with two huge wins against opponents from Little Rock and No. 20 Oregon State. On Friday he defeated Tristin Wills 5-1, then followed that with an unranked upset over No. 22 Mateo Olmos (6-4 SV1) Sunday night in Corvallis, Oregon. The second-year Sun Devil is riding a four match winning streak and is 5-2 in dual matches this season, including two wins in sudden victory in the past two weeks. On January 22nd he won Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week honors after upsetting Stanford’s No. 23 Tyler Eischens (6-3). For his efforts, FloWrestling has Valencia back in their Feb. 7 rankings as an honorable mention.
