(Tempe, AZ) Justin Robinson is officially the king of the 400m! The second-year Sun Devil ran a 45.40 in the 400m final of the USATF Indoor Championships, claiming gold and shattering his own Arizona State program record he set less than 24 hours earlier. He now ranks No. 3 in the world in the event. Robinson had a weekend to remember. Competing at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Robinson opened the weekend with a 45.48 Friday afternoon. That time broke the ASU program record by 0.08 (Jason Barton, 45.56, 2004) and put Robinson second overall in round one. Moving into finals the day after, Robinson ran his 45.40 to win the meet, break his own record, and jump to No. 3 in the world among senior men.

Robinson is just one of five Sun Devils competing at the USA Indoor Championships. Jeremy Cody (HJ), Jalen Drayden (60m), and alumnae Katie Eidem (pent) and Magdalyn “Maggie” Ewen (SP, WT) are in Albuquerque too. Cody didn’t record a height, Eidem took 10th in the pentathlon, and Ewen earned second in the shot and 10th in the weight throw. Drayden finished seventh in the 60m finals, running a personal-best 6.69. That’s a hair outside ASU’s all-time top-10 list (6.68).
