(Oakland, CA)  The California Pacific Conference has named Jayla Reliford its women’s basketball player of the week for the week ending February 12, 2023. This is Reliford’s first player of the week honor.

Reliford has been on a tear in recent weeks and last week was no different. In the Buccaneers win over Embry Riddle, Reliford put the Bucs on her 5-2 shoulders and carried them to victory with her fourth career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both of those totals tied career highs. She also added five assists and five steals in the game.

She pulled down her 10th rebound of a ERAU missed free throw to tie and knocked down key free throws down the stretch to help seal a must win for the Buccaneers.

Reliford has been a beast in conference play averaging 11 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.9 assists. She has scored in double digits in eight of her last 10 games and 11 of her last 15. Over her last 15 games she is averaging almost 12 points, 6.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds.

Reliford is third in the country in assists per game at 6.6. She is also the youngest of the three at the top with both the top two players being seniors and the fourth best being a graduate student.

The Buccaneers are 10-2 since having a 10-game losing streak in the middle of the season. The team will lean heavily on her leaderships in these last two games as the Bucs attempt to qualify for the Cal Pac Tournament to be held at Bell Bank Park.
