Maria Harrouch claims second straight individual crown at Estrella Mountain Invitational

(Buckeye, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s golf team completed play in their third tournament of the season on Thursday and Friday at the Estrella Mountain Invitational.

The Aztecs took third place with a total of 682 (339-343) at the Sundance Golf Club in Buckeye, AZ. Mesa Community College finished first in the team standings with a score of 652 (335-317).

Sophomore Maria Harrouch picked up her second straight individual title as she finished with a two-day score of 149. She shot a 2-over par 74 in the first round and a 3-over par 75 in the final round. Kylie Rehberger from South Mountain Community College finished 10-strokes behind Harrouch for second place with a score of 159 (77-82).

The Aztecs have either taken first place or tied for the top spot in the individual standings for the first three tournaments of the season.

Sophomore Angelica Martinez (Tucson Magnet HS) just missed out on earning medalist honors as she tied for seventh place with a total of 166. She improved by 2-strokes between rounds (84-82).

Freshman Myranda Moreno (Tucson Magnet HS) closed out the tournament with a score of 180 (89-91) as she placed 17th while fellow freshman Kayley Yanez (Marana HS) took 20th with a two-day score of 187 (92-95).

The Aztecs will compete at the Paradise Valley CC Invitational on March 6-7 at the Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix. Teams begin to tee off in the first round starting at 7:00 a.m.
