Bucs Complete Two Days of Indoor Competition

(Casa Grande, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert men’s and women’s track teams finished two days of events at the Ron Mann Classic at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., and the Central Arizona Indoor held by Central Arizona College in Casa Grande, Ariz.

The Bucs separated its teams as the distance runners ran at NAU on Friday evening and the sprinters participated at CAC this afternoon.

Zhanna Edwards participated in one sprint event at NAU, the 200-meters finishing eight out of 31 runners in a time of 26.71.

Maryan Sharif was the top finisher in the 800-meters in 17th place with a time of 2:32.68. Manuel Najera finished 10th out of 22 runners in the 800-meters with a time of 2:00.72.

At the CAC Indoor, Dylan Hukill qualified for the 60-meter final with the fifth fastest time in the prelims at 7.05. Hukill finished sixth in the final with a time of 7.12. Hukill was also the Bucs top finisher in the 200-meter in 11th– place with a time 22.67.

On the ladies side, Nardia Padilla was the top finisher in three events, placing fourth in the long jump (4.61m/15-01.50 ft), 11th in the 400-meters (1:04.48) and 17th in the 200-meters (27.67). Jordyn Espinoza finished right behind Padilla in 18th-place in the 200 (28.37). The men’s 4×400 meter relay team finished sixth with a time 3:37.93.

Park Gilbert now travels to Santa Barbara, Calif., to participate in the Sunshine Invitational next Saturday, February 11.
