Bucs have two in Top-20 after Two Rounds at OUAZ Spring Invite

(Surprise, AZ)  The Park University Gilbert golf teams started its spring season at the OUAZ Spring Invitational at the Sterling Grove Golf Club in Surprise, Ariz. The  men shot a combined 46 over and sit in 11 place in the 12 team field after two rounds. The women did not have a team score as only three players took to the links today.

Josh Smith and Tayler Gransen led the men and women respectively with Smith finishing the day in 15th-place and Gransen in 20th. Smith shot four-over with a 73 and a 75.  Gransen shot 81-88 to sit at +25.

Noah Blaickner recovered from a first round 80 to shoot a two-over 74 in the second round to finish at +10 in 31st place. On the women’s side, Grace Soto shot her best round as a Buc with a second round 89. Paired with her first round 94 she resides in 27th-place and is one solid round from her first top-20 finish. Both Smith (22) and Blaickner (24) finished in the top-10 in pars made.

As a team, the men shot 314 in the first round with three out of five rounds in the 80’s. The second round saw the Bucs improve to 308. They will attempt to ride the momentum of the second round to move up the leaderboard in the final round tomorrow. They trail the two teams by eight strokes and one by 14 going into Tuesday’s final round.

The final round will commence at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning with a shot gun start.
