(Tucson, AZ) Two members of the Pima Community College women’s team earned national recognition from the United Soccer Coaches as it released its All-Americans list.
Sophomores Angelina Amparano (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Caitlyn Maher (Catalina Foothills HS) were named to the 2022 Junior College Division II Women’s All-American Team.
Amparano, a goalkeeper, became the first Pima women’s soccer player to be named first team NJCAA All-American since Devyn Hunley (Sabino HS) in 2015.
She played and started in 15 games, logging 1,273 minutes and finishing with 83 saves. Amparano surrendered just six goals and posted a saves percentage of .950.
Maher, a midfielder/forward, played in all 18 games; making 15 starts this season. She finished with five goals and a team-leading 11 assists.
She scored a goal at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. She was also named second team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II. Maher played in 39 career games for Pima.
They will be recognized at the All-American Ceremony & Reception; which is part of the United Soccer Coaches Convention, on January 14, 2023 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
